Raspreet Sidhu will turn 28 in the week heading to the FIBA Women’s Asia Cup, and is one of the leaders of the pack. Sidhu, who got her first start for the Indian team in 2006 when she was sixteen, has played a key role in India winning the gold at the 2011 South Asian Beach Games at Hambantota, Sri Lanka. Two years thence, the Delhi player was pivotal in India finishing fifth and retaining its place in Division A at the 2013 FIBA Asia Championship for Women in Bangkok.

BFI Media’s conversation with Sidhu certainly is a revelation.

“The FIBA Women’s Asia Cup means a lot to all of us because we want to take our team back to Division A, where we have been consistently rubbing shoulders with the best teams in Asia from 2007 to 2014. We have been preparing for this tournament for a few months now, and every citizen of our country should know that we are putting in 100 percent effort. We hope we’ll have huge support from the stands. We are the home team after all.”
